VENTURE BUILDING

Launching digital businesses for the circular economy

The world needs new solutions, and fast.

Ventures can move quickly and with agility, to innovate in ways that bigger organisations can’t. Done right, they make waste management both environmentally and financially sustainable.

We build ventures that use technology to power ideas that will drive the circular economy – always starting from waste.

Our ventures

The teams behind our growing list of ventures are using technology to create value from waste across industries from textiles and electronics to bio-energy and carbon markets.

Keyvisual Minimise: Collecting e-waste
The Problem

Electronic waste is harming people and the planet. Every year, 32 megatons of e-waste is dumped in landfills and releases 56 billion kgs CO2.

Our Solution

Minimise is not only collecting e-waste, but tracking its journey to being recycled. Minimise is a digital solution that makes e-waste recycling traceable, transparent, and verifiable.

The Problem

Electronic waste is harming people and the planet. EvTo process waste efficiently, we need to know what’s in it – but waste streams are typically mixed, and their contents unknown. If we want waste to become a valuable product, we first need to understand it better.ery year, 32 megatons of e-waste is dumped in landfills and releases 56 billion kgs CO2.

Our Solution

Wasteer uses AI to analyse waste and reveal exactly what it contains. The waste can then be processed in a way that optimises material recovery and energy use – reducing costs, minimising emissions, and building data sets that will enhance future decision-making.

The Problem

In all kinds of industries, materials often go to waste. They are discarded before they need to be, or used inefficiently – at a cost to businesses and the planet.

Our Solution

Using our AI-powered platform, businesses can track, manage, and optimize idle resources in real time, so they can be recirculated and reused. The result is lower material costs and a smaller environmental footprint.

Our approach

Icon: start from waste

We start from waste

Waste is abundant, but undervalued. We build ventures that put it to use, to fix the circle where it’s failed.

Icon: team up

We team up

Circularity calls for diverse skills across all kinds of industries. Our role is to bring the right people, ideas and resources together.

Icon: Act fast

We act fast in a regulated space

We understand the compliance issues surrounding waste, and we navigate them at pace. We adopt a fail-fast approach to keep things moving, and pivot when we need to.

Build with us

Join the team

We’re always looking for entrepreneurially-minded, impact-driven people to join our team.

You’ll work as part of a small, committed founding team to ideate, test and launch a circular solution – alongside the wider team of tech, waste and circularity experts. Sound like fun?

Co-venture with us

We don’t invest directly in other startups, but we love to partner with other businesses who want to build a venture together.

Combining skills, time, resources and expertise, we build co-ventures that are owned 50-50 with our partners. Interested?

Our approach to venture building

We use our tried-and-tested method to build ventures that are both financially rewarding and good for the planet.

  • Our team of Venture Developers are always exploring the planet's environmental and economic problems, to understand new and evolving issues that are most in need of attention – from surging emissions levels to diminishing recycling rates.

Once we’ve decided on a problem space, we map it in detail. We connect the dots between the issue, its root causes, and the people and ecosystems impacted by it.

Next, we ideate. We think creatively to come up with a circular business concept that will support the planet and our future stakeholders.

  • This is when we test and learn. We develop hypotheses, and test them in the market to find out if there’s a real demand for our product and which business model is most likely to succeed. Our decisions are based on real customer insights, and tested against frameworks like the Impact Business Model – to align the revenue potential with the planned social and environmental impact.

For some concepts, this is the final step – they don’t pass the validation test. But for those that do, the next step is to build.

  • Time to make it happen. With our hypotheses validated and early proof of traction, we start to invest money in product development and team hiring. The core venture team remains focused on the product, while the NEEW Ventures team offers support with HR, legal, and other operational needs.

We work to establish product-market fit using the success criteria we determined in the Validation phase. Meanwhile, we look in more detail at the social and environmental benefits we’re creating, to check our impact is on track.

Finally, we make revenue projections so we can make our case to future investors.

  • When the product has a strong enough foundation to scale, the venture is spun-out as an independent company and the lead Venture Developer becomes a Founder with a brand new set of tasks ahead.

The Venture Founder is tasked with fundraising and can rely on the NEEW Ventures team and other stakeholders for strategic guidance, investment, network growth, and much more.
